Posted on 17 February 2015 ♥ Had Zav to fetch me to his house after his work on Sunday which was 9pm+, had Zav's mom cooking for late dinner together at 10plus! Nua for a while before Zav sent me home at 1am plus with a fish that Zav's Papa gave!Slept at almost 4am and woke up at 10.45am after 4 missed call from Cherlyn because she wanted to meet earlier than our meetup time. Rushed and got out of house at 11.15am and reached FEP at 12pm! Talk about efficiency *flip hair* Went to top up FH rack at the FEP outlet before taking a bus down to Five & Dime for our brunch!
Five & Dime
297 River Valley Road. Singapore 238338
Reached the place at 12.15pm which was great because the crowds haven't started coming in so we could immediately get a table though we did not have any reservations! YEHET! It started to get really packed and crowded from 12.40pm onward! Our orders came around 10-15minutes after ordering and here's what we ordered! ![]()
Mentaiko Pasta ($18)
The first thing that caught my eyes while browsing through the menu! Serving size was just right because we had half each to share. Comes with generous amount of cod fish roe and sufficient creamy mentaiko sauce! Really yummy and one of the better mentaiko pasta out there, imo! ![]()
Eggs Benny ($18)
Cherlyn didn't want the wagyu slices that was supposed to come with it so she opted to change it to bacon which she got 4 stripes of crispy bacon instead. Eggs was well-poached and goes well with the brioche (bread). Salad was pretty good as well, yay! We finished our mains really fast since we were both quite hungry when we reached! I finds their food pretty good and prices are considered affordable as well for the portion served. Ordered the Golden Custard Lava Cake which was why we came to Five & Dime for! ![]() ![]() A little on the pricey side at $12 but too unique to not try! The cake was really moist and the slight saltiness goes well with the really rich and dense chocolate. It's pretty good but I wish there was more of the salted egg yolk flowing out than the amount of the chocolate. Overall, it's worth a try because it's really special and tastes great as well! Bill was $56.50 in total for all of the above inclusive of GST and service charge! Staffs were all quite nice and really attentive by helping to fill up the water in our glass whenever they saw that it's not full. Didn't stayed for long after finished our food because there was already a little queue forming outside at around 1plus and we are not that inconsiderate. Took a bus back to town and we head to Ion for Cherlyn to shop for abit before we walked over to FEP and bought a cup of GongCha each! Settled down at the fountain area to chat and I'm sure we did sat there for probably 2hrs or so! Head to level 5 to see what's for dinner and we decided on New Station Snack Bar (Far East Plaza, 14 Scotts Road, #05-95, Singapore 228213 ) for our dinner! Glad to get a seat at the corner because the place is a little cramped! Wasn't very hungry but we decided to have a early dinner at 6pm before the dinner crowd starts streaming in. ![]()
Claypot Ee Mee ($5.50)
Served piping hot and anything in claypot always tastes better! Comes with really generous amount of pork slices, I think I had more than 12 slices since Cherlyn didn't want to eat meat. Slightly on the saltier side but the sauce was really thick and flavourful! ![]()
Salted Egg Pork Rib Rice, $6!
Waited for about 15minutes for this but it's so worth it! Pork Rib is lightly flavoured and well fried, leaving it tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Goes perfectly with the buttery salted egg yolk sauce which is so flavourful yet not too 'Jelat'! Slightly spicy too but I could take the small amount of spiciness because this was really good! Wanted to dabao for Zav to try but didn't did so in the end since we weren't meeting in the evening. Didn't have anywhere to go after dinner so we decided to walk over to Dhoby Ghaut for Cherlyn to take the train home while I take the bus home! Before that, we have to take some wefies outside Ion at 7pm and surprisingly, the natural lighting was so good!! SPAM SPAM SPAM! ![]() It was quite windy too which explained our flying fringe/hair! Went home at almost 8pm and so glad we had a long day to chat and catch up despite our clashing schedules etc! Reached home at 9plus and despite having a headache, selfies before removing makeup! ^_^ |
